How these situations affect the government:
Negativity upon decision making:
Just as I had said before, negativity is a very powerful thing. From just one single person, to the government, negativity is a widespread subject. The form of government that I choose to use was a theoretical situation. If the president of the United States were to state that the war in Afghanistan were to not have an end in sight, then he would frighten a lot of American citizens. Now, hypothetically, there were different ways that he may come about this such as saying, "the war seems as if it is not going to end soon, but we can fight through this and hope as one." This would have been a better statement, but what I am trying to reveal here is how someone with such great power can affect a city, or even the United States. The affect of this would be how there would be a sense of distress and depression upon Americans. More military families and friends would have to worry even more about their loved ones. That is just it though, the more positive one is, the more successful and hopeful a situation may be.
Lack of communication:
Just as my lack of communication impacts my personal life, government officials’ lack of communication can affect society as a whole. Discussions with other political leaders will be more effective if everyone shares his ideas. For example, there will be no surprises about other countries’ actions or about what other political parties intend to do. With effective communication, where everyone shares his or her thoughts and listens respectfully to others, members of different political parties may actually be able to come to more agreements. More innovative ideas for helping society in a cost-effective way can be thought of if every individual’s ideas are shared. Talking through issues can also help avoid a war or physical conflict between countries; effective communication can even help bring about world peace.
Overly considerate:
Think about how the government of the United States works now. Everyone is at each other’s throats, there is deep sectional division, and most people refuse to work together because the other is a member of a different political party. No imagine if everyone holding a major political office took into consideration everyone else’s feelings. The republicans wouldn’t want to hurt the democrat’s feelings and vice versa. So they should just wait until they can think of something that they both agree on. The House of Representatives, Congress, and the Supreme Court would erupt into a chorus of “What do you want to do?”, “I don’t know, what do you want to do?”, “Anything that you want to do.”, “Well I’ll do whatever you want to do.”. Everything would just stop. No new policies would be made, no charters renewed, and currency would cease to circulate. The result, the nation would fall apart. The economy would grind to a screeching halt, businesses would shut down, and order would descend into chaos. All of this would happen because the government had become overly-considerate.
